Young people interested in finding out more about engineering apprenticeships are being encouraged to attend an awareness session in Northumberland.

Northumberland College is urging those aged between 16 and 24 to head along to the Engineer Your Future Apprenticeship event that will take place at Ashington Campus tomorrow(WED) and on Thursday.

The two-day event will see young people sign-up for a two-week pre-apprenticeship training programme that the college has created in partnership with Zenith People.

Lisa Waller, training operations manager at Zenith People, said: “We are advising anyone aged 16 to 24 who is interested in starting an apprenticeship in the engineering and manufacturing sector to come along and sign up for our  two-week training programme.

“It’s an aspirational programme and standards will be high, but the hard work will be worth it. Attendees will be introduced to employers who have live apprenticeship opportunities in roles ranging from engineering maintenance to manufacturing operations.

“Everyone who successfully completes the two-week programme will receive the certified EAL Level 2 qualification in Industrial Environment Awareness and a guaranteed interview with local employers, so it really is a great opportunity.”

To register to attend the Engineer Your Future awareness session on Wednesday, July 31, or Thursday, August 1, contact the training team at Zenith People on 0191 341 0291 or email apprenticeships@zenithpeople.com
