TWO Northern presenters took to the airwaves for their first show yesterday.
JoJo Hatfield, 24, from Stockton, hosted her first radio show on Capital FM alongside co-presenter Matt Bailey, from Stannington, Northumberland.
She was spotted by producers on the ITV show Take Me Out and catapulted from reading out traffic updates to presenting the four-hour radio show.
She said: “This is the first real opportunity that I’ve had in a presenting role. I’m massively excited.
“It’s just amazing to be able to go on the radio with two of your mates and just have a bit of crack and a bit of banter and hopefully entertain people while you’re doing it.”
She said that her favourite aspect of the North East was the friendly locals. “Everybody is just so lovely and kind and friendly. Hopefully we reflect that in the breakfast show,” she added.
Bailey, 28, also stressed his links to the region. “I grew up there, went off to uni but I’ve been in the North East my entire life , working and living in the region,” he said.
“Every morning, the main thing is we get up and we help other people get up in their morning.”
The pair will host the 6-10am show with Bodg, familiar to listeners from Capital’s drivetime slot.
