Following the death of a close pal, Sue Brind, of Lancaster Park, Morpeth, has been raising money for Marie Curie in her memory.

As part of her fundraising efforts she opened her home to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party.

During the event Sue raised £180 through a raffle and some homemade cooking for the charity, which provides end of life care to terminally-ill patients in their own homes, or in one of nine hospices.

Sue and her husband Stuart have now handed over the cheque to the Marie Curie Society.

The money will now pay for nine hours of care for a patient.
