AN isolated part of Northumberland is set to feature in a TV programme.

Kielder Observatory in north Northumberland will feature in three days of the new BBC2 Stargazing LIVE show.

Scientist Professor Brian Cox will present three days of live astronomy programmes from the observatory in early January.

And Kielder Observatory will be the base for viewing a partial solar eclipse on January 4.

Observatory director Gary Fildes said: “Stargazing LIVE is a fantastic initiative to involve the public in observing the night sky and the natural beauty and wonder of the universe.

“Kielder Observatory’s pristine night skies with powerful telescopes and expertise makes it the obvious platform.”
