A HOME and garden store is to create nearly 60 jobs in a Northumberland market town.

Wilkinson will open its new store in Alnwick next month. The store will be the 359th Wilkinson store in the country, and will be situated in a brand new 12,000 square foot retail unit located on Lagny Street.

The new store will create 59 jobs which will include a variety of roles, from sales assistants and security officers, to stock supervisors and warehouse staff.

Store manager, Lee Wade, said: “Wilkinson is excited to be opening a brand new store in Alnwick.

“We are relatively new to the area, with our nearest branch situated 17 miles away, in Ashington, but we feel we have a great deal to offer local shoppers. We are excited to be bringing our great value, high-quality product ranges to the area, and we are certain that local residents will appreciate our focus on providing excellent customer service.

“We are also proud to be creating nearly 60 new jobs for local people, and building a skilled team who will make shopping at the store a unique, enjoyable experience for customers.

“Plans for the launch are shaping up well, and we’re excited to be joining this close-knit community in Alnwick.”

The new store will officially open on August 18 at 9am. It will sell items including health and beauty ranges, cleaning products, gardening equipment and homewares.
