Quite possibly one of the finest houses in Northumberland, this luxurious family home offers real luxury down in the woods

This beautiful property is idyllically located in an enchanting woodland plot and was designed and built by Kevin Hutchinson to be a luxurious family home.

A grand marble entrance hallway and staircase with balcony immediately sets the impeccable standard of accommodation on offer throughout the rest of the six bedroom house.

Several formal reception rooms positioned to the front of the property counterbalance an open plan contemporary kitchen and dining area at the rear, making it a highly versatile and expansive home, in Morpeth , Northumberland.

Owner Kevin says: “I built the house to be the best it possibly could be. To be big and impressive. It has a deeply luxurious feel to it.

“There are six bedrooms and six bathrooms. One of the shower enclosures was found in a Roman archaeological dig. I had it reclaimed at a cost of £50,000 plus VAT, so there’s a little piece of history there too. But all of the bathrooms are of the same standard and made from the best materials you can buy.

“There is a self-contained apartment to the second floor, which has a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and study area, so it’s perfect for dependant relatives or guests.

“The house also has its own dedicated cinema, games room, and a leisure wing which comprises of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa, gym and wine bar.”

In addition, there is a gym, a wine cellar and an integrated and oversized three car garage with a polished black granite tiled floor. A most impressive master bedroom suite has lovely, calming views overlooking landscaped gardens and includes a dressing area with walnut units.

Characterful finishing touches to the home include high ceilings, deep skirting boards and ceiling cornicing, and other key features include a pillared entrance and a striking dining room with Travertine marble fireplace and surround weighing six tonnes.

Kevin adds: “The back of the house is south-facing and that’s designed to be the main day to day living space.

“It’s a very quiet and secluded area to live in, you’ve got the country on your doorstep and its very private, but you’re only a two minute drive from Morpeth town centre, or 15 minute drive from Newcastle. So you get the best of both worlds. The houses are on big plots of land so they have the feel of seclusion, but your neighbours are close enough so you don’t feel isolated.”

The immaculate property offers immense space and comfort in the seclusion and privacy provided by its woodland setting. Kevin, 37 and wife Holly, 29, have enjoyed the home for four years and say it’s been a perfect place to start a family. Their 16-month-old daughter Isabella, has enjoyed having plenty of space to run around and play in, along with “pool parties” with her friends.

Kevin explains: “The house is ideal for entertaining. The kitchen is the main area for parties and because it has a big central circular island unit with a steak grill, Tepan and wok burner, so you can stand in the middle cooking and still be able to socialise and enjoy the evening at the same time.

“The kitchen also has the large oven for more serious cooking, an American fridge / freezer, two smaller separate fridges, one in the island unit along with a oven/microwave and steam oven for ease and another fridge below the coffee machine, as the kitchen is large, but there are plenty of useful appliances nearby for ease of use in the kitchen.

“The formal reception rooms can be used for a more formal evening and there’s plenty of space if people need to stay over. You don’t even feel like you’ve got guests in the house because they can live upstairs in the apartment quiet freely, coming down to the main house when they wish.

“Another great thing is that the running costs are considerably low for the size of the house.” It took Kevin 12 months of designing and planning, and two years to build the property.

He explains: “We have really enjoyed living here. It really is idyllic but its time for us to move on to enjoy a new venture together as a family.

“The new owner will not only be getting one of the finest houses in Northumberland, on sale for a guide price of £3.25m, but getting a material saving on the valuation of £4.5m.”
