PEOPLE in a Northumberland village can today find out more about plans to build scores of affordable homes in their historic community.

The Two Castles Housing Association is planning to build 71 new homes on land south of Morwick Road and New Barns Court in Warkworth, for local people in the greatest need of housing.

Today [THURS] the proposals will be on display at a public exhibition from 4pm to 7pm in Warkworth War Memorial Hall on Castle Street.

Working with the Esh Group as part of the Hadrian Development Solutions partnership, Two Castles proposes to build 27 energy-efficient affordable homes for rent as part of the scheme, including nine two-bedroom and six three-bedroom homes, as well as eight two-bedroom bungalows and four one-bedroom flats.

Project manager Lisa Hogarth said: “There is currently a real need for quality, affordable housing in Warkworth and its surrounding area. This exhibition gives us an opportunity to listen to the views of local residents and answer any questions they may have. We are committed to delivering high quality, affordable homes in rural areas, that give local people, especially young families, the chance to continue living where they belong.”
