ALTHOUGH weight-loss tends to plateau for most people, this week’s super slimmer Steve Mountain is bucking the trend by losing an amazing 20lbs in the past two weeks.

The 32-year-old security officer from Redcar had already lost 13.5lbs in the first two weeks of Fit Factor – giving him a total weight loss of two stone 5.5lbs in a month.

His impressive results come despite a stressful two weeks when he missed four sessions due to his wife Eve’s cancer operation and his grandad’s death.

“I was absolutely astounded because I’ve missed a fair few sessions but sticking to the diet certainly helped,” he says. “When I first started this I was hoping for maybe a stone a month, but I’ve gone quite a bit over that. Hopefully over the next two weeks I’ll lose another half a stone. I’m trying to be realistic as my body will eventually plateau. Anything more than that is a major bonus.”

Fitness Instructor David Fairlamb says: “I never ever thought we’d get results like this. I would’ve be pleased with these results after eight weeks, never mind four. What’s even better is that every one of then has dropped visceral fat, which is the fat around the major organs so they’ve significantly improved their health.”

Steve Mountain, Ian Gibson and Nick Cotterill have lost the most visceral fat while Claire Hancock, Emma Roberts, Dan Henderson and Jacqui Fahey are now below the dangerous level.

Business manager Claire Hancock, 40, says: “I’ve seen organs in the hospital that are covered in fat and that kept popping into my head, so I was really pleased that had come down.”

Smashing her target of half a stone every fortnight, Claire was delighted to lose 8.8lbs and has dropped two dress sizes to a size 20. “I’m over the moon,” she says. “David really pushed us on Sunday and it’s amazing how much more I can do. I’ve started running myself too. I can run a mile now. Now that the weight loss is slowing down, we’ve got to push the exercise that much more to get the results.”

Port of Tyne director Ian Gibson, 45, from Wardley, Gateshead, said: “I’ve lost 33lbs of fat now and I feel healthy and 100% better.” Project manager Nick Cotterill was also very pleased with his result. “I’ve lost 10lbs of fat again,” he says. “The training seems to be getting easier too and I’m doing extra stuff now so I can start pushing on.”

Dawn Roe from Pelton, County Durham, who started Fit Factor at 24st 12lbs, has repeated the success of her first two weeks by losing 9.1lbs giving a total fat loss of 18.6lbs.

“I didn’t feel like I’d lost weight so I was really chuffed,” she says. “I wasn’t even aware you could lose that much weight in four weeks. I thought it would take longer. When you get as big as we are, you think the only option is surgery.”

Support and account manager Jacqui Fahey, 36, from Weston Denton, Newcastle, lost 4lbs in the last two weeks, but like many of the group, has gained lean muscle weight.

She says: “Because I’m the littlest in the group, I’m not losing as much as everybody else as that’s my difficulty but I’ve still lost nearly one stone of fat in four weeks.”

David Fairlamb said: “I’m being picky but want to see more, and I want to see them eat vegetables rather than fruit.”
