Were you ill much as a child?
Not really. I just got the usual colds most kids get.
What sports & activities did you take part in at school?
I was never really that keen on football back then so I spent a lot of time playing basketball and weight training.
Have you ever had a health scare or an operation?
No - thankfully!
How often do you exercise and what do you do?
At the moment I try to go running two to three times a week and also add in classes such as kick-boxing or strength and conditioning circuits.
What’s the most challenging activity/event you’ve ever done?
In March earlier this year I ran in the Dentdale 14-mile race which was a huge achievement for me and the furthest (and hilliest) I’ve ever ran.
Have you ever done the Great North Run?
Not yet, though I may some time in the future.
How do you keep motivated?
I like to set myself small goals to achieve and then once they’re accomplished, I make new ones to try and improve on the last.
What’s your diet like and how could you change it?
During the week it’s quite balanced and healthy. On a weekend though I just have whatever I want.
Have you ever been on a diet and did it work?
I’ve tried a few different diets in the past and all have their own merits and flaws.
In the end I think it’s important to know your own body and do what works for you, everyone’s different. I know what my own ideal weight is and try to stay as close to that as possible.
Are you happy with your body?
Some parts yes, and other parts no.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Pizzas are most definitely my weakness! And I do like to have a takeaway and a few beers on a weekend.
How much do you drink a week?
Well I rarely touch a drop of alcohol during the week but quite often I more than make up for it on a weekend.
Have you ever smoked?
I used to smoke a lot when I was younger but I gave up over six years ago and I haven’t had a cigarette since.
What are your health and fitness goals for the future?
I’ve signed up for the Lancaster half marathon in November and I am hoping to beat my previous time and finish in under two hours.
