Were you ill much as a child?
No. However, I coughed easily between the ages of seven to nine. As soon as I approached teenage I got really fit.
What sports and activities did you take part in at school?
Nothing. Not very active.
Have you ever had a health scare?
No. But I have knee pain. It started about 10 years ago. I have been playing badminton for 15 years. For the first 10 years I played five times a week. The knee pain is generated from my badminton-playing. I should have stopped when the pain started, but I did not and it got worse. I stopped playing badminton from June 2011.
Have you ever had an operation?
Not exactly surgery. But I had a keyhole investigation on my left knee, called an arthroscopy at October 2010.
How often do you exercise and what do you do?
I dance six times a week.
Ballroom and Latin dancing, salsa, belly dancing, and Chinese dancing.
What’s the most challenging activity/event you’ve ever done?
There is no particular challenging event that I can remember.
Have you ever done the Great North Run?
How do you keep motivated?
I love dancing, so I just do it every day.
What’s your diet like and how could you change it?
My diet is quite healthy and I don’t have a sweet tooth. I love vegetables more than meat, and I have fruit every day. There is nothing I want to change. Maybe trying not to over-eat. Stop when I feel full, but not finish everything on the plate.
Have you ever been on a diet and did it work?
Are you happy with your body?
I think so.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Shopping and spending money.
How much do you drink a week?
I don’t drink.
Have you ever smoked?
What are your health and fitness goals for the future?
Try to keep my knees working so I can carry on dancing.
It would be nice to lose three to five pounds in weight.
