Fit Factor 2013 launch at Real Radio

THE Journal and Real Radio’s Fit Factor competition attracted more than 300 entrants last year – and our Active8 finalists lost over 30 stones between them in 12 weeks.

Now it’s your turn to follow in their footsteps and kick-start a healthy new lifestyle by taking part in Fit Factor 2013.

The 12-week challenge will give six overweight readers a personalised training programme worth £2,000.

Fit Factor trainer David Fairlamb said: "Now is your time to turn your life around. If you are overweight, unfit, lack confidence and self- esteem, have tried every diet, lack energy, are stuck in a rut and have no self discipline with food and exercise – why not apply to Fit Factor 2013 and you could change your life forever?.

"The first Fit Factor was a total success in every way and I look forward to helping provide support and training for the Fit Factor 2013 group which will lead to more lives being changed in a dramatic way."

You may have a goal in mind such as losing weight for a future wedding, holiday or physical challenge. Or perhaps you have a particular reason to lose weight – such as a health issue, starting a family or even a confidence boost to find love. Whatever your reasons we want to hear from you and help you on your journey.

You can enter either individually or as a pair – for example a couple, siblings, a parent and child, two friends or maybe work colleagues.

A shortlist of candidates will be invited to pre-selection interviews at Real Radio during February so we can pick the final six.

It won’t be easy and will require full commitment on your part in terms of juggling work, family and fitness – but you will be fully supported every step of the way by personal trainer David Fairlamb and his team who have extensive experience training people of all shapes and sizes.

You must be willing to commit to a ‘lean and clean’ healthy eating programme and four training sessions per week in Tyneside at weekends/evenings including a beach bootcamp and a range of different fun activities.

Olympic swimmer Chris Cook is back on board again this year as well as ‘Run Geordie Run’ Mark Allison. Other activities will include power yoga, paddle boarding, rugby, football, volleyball, badminton and Zumba. You must also agree to be featured in The Journal and interviewed on Real Radio Breakfast with Gary & Lisa, and be happy to disclose your vital statistics.

There will also be an opportunity to explore your personal weight issues with a psychologist in our Fit Factor group therapy sessions.

Whoever makes the most progress – not just in terms of weight-loss but also commitment – will win a week for two at the five-star Fortina Spa Resort in Malta flying from Newcastle. The resort – whose previous guests include Brangelina, Madonna, Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks – is launching a partnership with Sunderland AFC. It’s where Gary Neville and other footballers holiday and where the team will train.

All six finalists will get free VIP entries (plus a guest pass) to the Great North Swim on June 14-16, the Bupa Great North 10k in July and the Bupa Great North Run on September 15
