The winner of this year’s Fit Factor will have a weekend of pampering at a luxury spa.

Entries for The Journal’s competition close at midnight and we can reveal that the winning contestant will enjoy a stay at Stobo Castle in the Scottish borders.

As one of the country’s leading spa resorts it oozes tranquility and is a favourite with singer Dame Shirley Bassey.

The winner, plus their guest, will get an overnight stay in a deluxe room with champagne on arrival, three-course dinner, full Scottish breakfast and three-course lunch, unlimited use of spa facilities, optional fitness and aqua classes, guided walks including the Japanese Water Gardens and evening activities.

It is a prize not to be missed, and readers have until the end of today to enter Fit Factor 2014.

The 12-week competition will give six people an intensive health and fitness programme worth more than £2,000 each.

All chosen finalists will receive a £100 Adidas gift card to spend on whatever they choose.

Last year, the Fit Factor team lost more than 20 stone collectively in just three months, and transformed their lives for the better.

We’re looking for people who may have a goal in mind such as losing weight for a special occasion or physical challenge, or a particular reason to drop the pounds such as a health issue.

You can enter either individually or as a pair – for example a couple, siblings, a parent and child, two friends or maybe work colleagues. The competition is open to people aged 18 and over.

Participants must be willing to commit 100% to a healthy eating programme and a number of training sessions per week in North Tyneside, including a beach bootcamp at Tynemouth Longsands beach from 9am to 9.45am on a Saturday.

Training sessions will take place from 5.45/6pm onwards every Monday and Wednesday and participants must be available to attend every one.

Fit Factor trainer David Fairlamb said: “Two years ago I wanted to prove to the North East, and the country, that making a decision to dramatically lose weight and turn your life around can be done in a very short space of time.

“The Fit Factor was launched. In the first year eight people were chosen, they trained twice a week with me and attended my Saturday beach bootcamp while following a very healthy diet. The final results were incredible as the eight had dropped a massive 30 stones between them.

“This was backed up in year two where I trained six people and they dropped an awesome 22 stones between them.

“This is your chance to turn your life around. Not only did the previous years’ finalists look incredible, but they also regained their self-confidence and self-esteem and had a new happy outlook on life. If you or anyone you know needs this sort of change and support in their life I encourage you to complete the Fit Factor form online.”
