Your exclusive beauty tips from MAC cosmetics’ senior make-up artist Caroline Donnelly.
THANKS to everyone who came to see me on the MAC counter at House of Fraser in the Metro Centre. I was there on June 15 and 16 June as a featured artist doing pre-booked make up applications.
I met some lovely people, it was great to see the staff and I had a very enjoyable, busy time - while also being able to combine this with a family visit!
I don't get to the North-East as often as I'd like, so it's great when I get an opportunity to come up!
I hope everybody was happy with their visit, and remember, if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to contact me through The Journal.
As I mentioned last week, I'm off to Glastonbury Festival with a small MAC team.
I'm so excited! It's going to be sooo much fun, what a great job!
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't rain any more, but traditionally it will! Oh well, I bought some new wellies, it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it!
If anyone is in either London on Thursday, or Manchester on Friday, MAC have a special guest on counter.
The most successful Burlesque performer of our time, Dita Von Teese will be appearing in MAC Selfridges, Oxford Street, London at 1pm on June 28, and MAC Selfridges, Exchange Square, Manchester at 2pm on June 29.
Dita has been a fantastic, active, hard working spokesperson for MAC's Viva Glam campaign since last September helping to raise awareness and money for the MAC Aids Fund. This donates all the proceeds from the sales MAC Viva Glam lipsticks and lip glosses to those people whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS. See www.macaidsfund.org for details of the charity.
She will be there for press interviews, signings and photo opportunities, so is a must for all fans. On Wednesday night she will be performing at a tickets-only party held by MAC in central London. At this party not only will she will be performing a routine which can only be described as a lip tease(!), but will be presenting a cheque on behalf of the MAC Aids Fund to Brookes Charity for a whopping £50,000. All from the sales of lipsticks and lip glosses. Go on, treat yourself to a new Viva Glam lipstick or gloss this week, it DOES make a difference.
Q. My skin has recently gone really oily. I know it's the weather, but what can I do to help it? Especially as I've read in your column that matte skin is fashionable!
A. Lots of people find that their skin behaves differently in the warmer months. Even though we've had loads of rain it's still been quite warm and humid. Just as you most certainly need to buy a different shade of foundation in the changing seasons, you may also need to change your moisturiser. A moisturiser that is going to control your skins oil production, whilst not neglecting that we still need to moisturise, is going to be key to your needs. MAC Oil Control Lotion is the ultimate no-shine base for oil control.
Natural exfoliants will help improve texture and clarity. The texture is lightweight and like all the MAC skincare range, will not block your pores or congest your skin. As the oil control lotion also helps bond make up to the skin, fewer touch-ups are needed. The lotion offers oil-free hydration with natural colloidal minerals and antioxidants and is formulated to keep the skin ph balanced.
Alongside your skin care it's imperative you protect your skin, especially during the summer months or while in hotter climes. Seven out of 11 MAC foundations contain sunscreen of factor 15 (SPF 15).
