The Stand Comedy Club will be bringing some of the best acts from the Edinburgh Fringe to Tyneside during August.

Following last year’s inaugural - and very successful - Edinburgh Fringe and Beyond programme at the venue on the city centre’s High Bridge, a string of top comics will once again be making the journey from the Scottish capital to the North East for the Newcastle Alternative.

Stewart Lee, Frankie Boyle, Tom Stade, Tony Law, Stewart Francis, Imran Yusuf, Mark Watson and Simon Munnery are among the acts on the August bill.

These Newcastle Alternative shows will be snuggled in amongst The Stand’s regular weekend shows, Red Raw – the beginner’s showcase where people like Kevin Bridges cut their comedy teeth and its kids’ shows and charity benefits.

Tickets are expected to go like hot cakes, so if you’re interested in bagging some, we recommend you don’t hang about.
