Step back in time this week when the music of one of the world’s best-selling pop groups is brought to life. Entertainment Editor GORDON BARR has the details.
CALLING all super troupers and dancing queens! ABBA Mania will hit the region this week when one of the world’s top touring tribute bands comes to the Sunderland Empire for a three-night stint.
That will be followed by another show from the fab foursome at the Journal Tyne Theatre on September 14.
Celebrating timeless hits from the Swedish supergroup, ABBA Mania promises to be a glittering, non-stop, fun-filled party.
Formed in 1999, the tribute band have been selling out theatres and concert halls ever since, touring the world in their quest to bring the music of ABBA to millions of fans, old and new!
Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Annifrid, collectively known as ABBA, dominated the charts for nearly 10 years and enjoyed nine UK number ones. At their height they became Sweden’s highest export earners, even outselling Volvo cars. In the early 80s, though, they decided to go their separate ways – but their music lives on.
ABBA’s timeless songs were written to be enjoyed live and ABBA Mania give you exactly that – two hours of uplifting, dance-inducing and sometimes heart-breaking songs, fully live with great staging, lighting and effects.
The show recreates Abba’s sound with respect to the original and it’s not just for lifelong, die-hard ABBA fans, but the new generation of fans, who never had the opportunity to see the Swedes live.
Hit after hit, including Dancing Queen, Waterloo, Mamma Mia, The Winner Takes It All, Super Trouper, Fernando, Take A Chance On Me and many more that continue to fill dance floors worldwide are included in the concert.
If you’re looking for an excuse to party, reminisce or simply be entertained by some the best music there has ever been, then Take A Chance on ABBA Mania.
