Troubled rock star Pete Doherty is coming North on his very first arena tour with band Babyshambles.

The group have revealed eight dates at venues around the UK, including a visit to Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on November 23.

The band's previous forays to the region saw gigs at the Carling Academy shelved twice before they finally made it to the venue.

They were due to play at the Academy in January, and again in October, but both dates were postponed until December so Doherty could battle his drug addiction.

The new tour will also take in Manchester, Brighton, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Nottingham, Wembley and Glasgow and will coincide with the autumn release of the band's new album.

Hexham-born Doherty's supermodel girlfriend Kate Moss is said to be writing material for the record.

Tickets for the November tour go on sale on March 22.
