Wet Wet Wet have announced a date at Metro Radio Arena Newcastle as part of their Big Picture Tour for spring 2016.
The Scottish band, led by Marti Pellow, have booked a 17-date arena tour for February and March next year during which they’ll be performing tracks from nearly three decades worth of albums.
Having sold more than 15 million records while notching up over 30 UK chart hits including three number ones, the band have scheduled this tour to coincide with the 20th anniversary of their number on album, Picture This, which included Julia Says, Don’t Want to Forgive Me Now, Somewhere Somehow and the song which decamped to the top of the charts for months, Love is All Around.
As well as notching up a recording career to be thrilled with, Wet Wet Wet have also crafted a reputation for storming live performances throughout their career and have played to more than five million people across the globe to date.
On the tour announcement, Marti said: “When we play together it always reminds me how great this band is and how proud I am of the armoury of songs we’ve built up. We love to see the fans enjoying what we do on stage and we’re all looking forward to being on the road again.”
Bass guitarist Graeme Clark added: “We’ve been working on new material as well as looking into the archive and we’re looking forward to playing plenty of songs from Picture This to commemorate its anniversary alongside many other favourites.”
While rummer Tommy Cunningham promised: “We always put on a spectacular show and it will be no different this time around as amongst a few other surprises, we’ll have massive screens on stage to fit right in with the Big Picture theme.”
Tickets costing £42.50 and £48 will go on sale at 10am on May 21. Call 0844 493 6666 or visit www.metroradioarena.co.uk to book.
