Newcastle’s Lit and Phil will play host to singer songwriter Tom Hickox on Thursday as he embarks on a UK tour in support of his buzz-making debut album, War, Peace and Diplomacy.
The tour follows a recent sold out home town show at London’s Union Chapel and will coincide with a single release for the track Out of the Warzone, which features a slide guitar contribution from Richard Hawley, whose band played with Tom on the album.
Not too shabby eh?
Already boasting five star reviews which proclaim him as ‘a rare and bold new talent’, suggest he is ‘from a different planet, and certainly from a different age’ and praise his ‘instinct for elegance’, this gig sounds like a unique opportunity to catch Tom live in an unusual setting before he returns to pack out perhaps more traditional music venues.
Tom says he is ‘still learning’ and more than happy to be that. He adds: “I am great believer in the listener finding their own way. I have failed as a writer if there is only one interpretation of the lyrics.”
Tickets for the Lit and Phil performance on Thursday night are priced at £7.50 and available from REFLEX Records in Newcastle, Hot Rats in Sunderland and from the Lit and Phil.
