The Pet Shop Boys have announced a second date at Sage Gateshead in September after the first date became one of the fastest selling gigs in the venue’s almost 10-year history.
The band, led by Newcastle-bred Neil Tennant, will now play Hall One on September 3 as well as on the night before (Sept 2), as part of their Electric Tour.
Neil said: “It always feels special to come home and perform a show and Sage Gateshead has established itself in the last ten years as one of Europe’s very best venues for all genres of music.”
The show will feature Pet Shop Boys classics aplenty and also new tracks from Electric, the first Pet Shop Boys album to be produced by Stuart Price, the dance music wunderkind behind Madonna’s Confessions on a Dance Floor and club-smashing remixes for The Killers.
Audiences at Sage Gateshead are being promised a world-beating spectacular live show to go with the club-centred sound of Electric, with lighting and set design created in collaboration with award-winning creative director and designer Es Devlin (who has worked with Lady Gaga, Kanye West & Jay Z, Take That and the 2012 Olympics’ Closing Ceremony).
Prepare to interact with the extraordinary visuals and take in a light and laser show - as well as the unforgettable costumes we have come to expect of course.
And if all that wasn’t enough to get you excited, in order to reflect the mood of the show, the seats will be taken out of the pit area of Sage Gateshead, exclusively for dancing purposes.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, July 4 at 10am and are available from Sage Gateshead’s box office on 0191 443 4661 or online at www.sagegateshead.com
