A two-day festival of high profile dance music will see Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena presenting its first major outdoors event.

Headline acts already confirmed for Hau5 The Festival on September 20 and 21 include DVBBS, Chase & Status, Sigma and Sub Focus.

More names will be added to the list as the event, coinciding with the arrival of the new intake of students at the region’s universities, approaches.

Paul Tappenden, general manager of the Metro Radio Arena, said: “We are very excited about this event being the first outdoor festival we have held at the venue.

“It’s the perfect event for Freshers’ Week in an already vibrant city for students.”

The venue say that two huge stages with massive production, epic sound systems and giant LED walls will feature at the festival which will be staged in the Arena courtyard and have capacity for 10,000 people.

Tickets for the event, which is strictly 18 plus, are on sale at the Arena box office from 10am today, on-line or via a booking hotline number, 0844 493 6666.

Hau5 was conceived by Paul Somerville as “a full clubbing experience” and found its first home at The Union in Sunderland. It launched three years ago on bonfire night and has since built up an enthusiastic following.

Headline act DVBBS – pronounced ‘dubbs’ – is an electronic duo comprising Canadian brothers Chris and Alex Andre. Formed two years ago, it had its biggest hit with Tsunami, created with American DJ and music producer Borgeous.

Chase & Status are a British electronic music production duo, Saul Milton and Will Kennard, who are joined in live performance by MC Rage and Andy Gangadeen.
