Baggy trousers and fun houses at the ready, Madness will bring their distinctive brand of musical mayhem to the Metro Radio Arena Newcastle on December 12 this year.

The legendary British band, led by Suggs have announced their first live dates for more than a year, and have called them M.A.D.H.E.A.D - a title which comes with a premise that:

“There is only one Madhead. It is about you, above you, below you and within you. It is all around you. It is you. Inside the Madhead is all your thoughts. The Madhead can hear the music. The Madhead can feel the music. The Madhead must dance. The Madhead must sing. I are the Madhead. You are the Madhead. We are the Madhead.”

Well, there you go.

Following a couple of stellar years for the band, which have seen them play on the roof of Buckingham Palace as well as on the iconic stage of London’s Alexandra Palace and at the farewell to BBC Television Centre, they are ready to get out and amongst it again - bringing their 10th studio album ‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ under their arm.

There is also the promise of new material too, courtesy of the last few months in the studio.

Of the new tour, Suggs says: “I know when to go out, I know when to stay in and get things done.”

Now I’m not saying I couldn’t have said it better, but I am sure not as many people would be listening.

Tickets for the December 12 gig at the Arena cost £35 and £45 and go on sale on Friday (May 16) at 9.30am. Call 0844 493 6666 or visit www.metroradioarena.co.uk
