Newcastle is among nine British cities set to welcome Lionel Richie on the European leg of his current world tour.

The famously smooth singer, who has a big following in the North East, will appear at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle, on March 7 next year.

It will be his first appearance there since he stopped off on his Tuskeegee Tour in 2012.

“The audiences are always so great and I always have an incredible time when I’m in the United Kingdom.

“The show feels like a great big sing-along most nights so I’m looking forward to singing along with the people of the UK again.”

The current world tour, dubbed All The Hits All Night Long, began last September in America, since when he given 70 performances at stadiums, arenas and festivals.

The tour is being promoted as a celebration of a career in which he has sold more than 100m albums and won five Grammy awards.
