An exciting cat was let out of the bag on Tuesday morning when Lauren Laverne announced that the BBC 6 Music festival would be heading to Newcastle next month.

An eclectic mix of big names from the music industry will descend on Tyneside for the event on February 20-22 with acts like Neneh Cherry, The Charlatans, Hot Chip, BRIT award nominees The War on Drugs and Royal Blood and our very own Maximo Park topping the bill.
6 Music has been staggering artist reveals throughout the day and now all have been confirmed so the big question is where and when is everybody on?

Bands performing at 02 Academy Newcastle on Friday, February 20 from 5pm are:
The War On Drugs, whose 2014 album, Lost In The Dream, was 6 Music’s Album Of The Year
Artists and bands performing at Sage Gateshead across four stages on Saturday, February 21 from 6pm are:

Simian Mobile Disco
Father John Misty
Ibibio Sound Machine
Kate Tempest and Eliza Carthy: performing together in an exclusive 6 Music collaboration
*There will also be a Northern Soul Night (from 5-10.30pm), hosted by 6 Music’s Funk and Soul show presenter Craig Charles, with Richard Searling and Stuart Maconie plus further DJs to be announced soon.

When do tickets go on sale and how much are they?
Tickets for Friday, February 20 go on sale on Friday, January 30, priced £25 (plus booking fee, P&P)
Tickets for Saturday, February 21, go on sale on Saturday, January 31 (priced £35 (plus booking fee, P&P)
Tickets for Sunday, February 22, go on sale on Sunday, February 1 (priced £35 (plus booking fee, P&P)
They will be available from 6 Music online.
There will be around 1600 tickets are available to buy for 02 Academy Newcastle and approximately 3400 tickets are available for The Sage Newcastle per night. Maximum of four tickets per person when purchasing.
Are there any age restrictions?
Ticket holders must be 16 and over.
*In her show on Saturday Mary Anne Hobbs will announce a line-up of DJs performing at 6 Music Festival Late, an after-hours night on Saturday, February 21, from 10pm-2am, at The Boiler Shop in Newcastle.
This will be ticketed separately to rest of the night-time line-up.
