Scooby-Doo bit off a little more than he could chew in Newcastle yesterday. Nothing unusual about that, of course. Scooby and the Mystery Inc. gang are famous for getting into spooky scrapes with criminals disguised as ghouls and ghosties.
But there was nobody inside the yeti at the Centre for Life. This was one of the realistic models in the Myths and Monsters exhibition which has just opened at the Newcastle visitor attraction.
On this occasion, the human being was inside Scooby. Chris Carter, an actor from Alabama, had donned the crazy dog suit for yesterday's photocall.
He embraced the yeti, realised it wasn't Shaggy - his cartoon accomplice from the TV series - and shot off with his tail between his legs to Sunderland for a scooby snack.
The stage version of Scooby-Doo! opens at Sunderland Empire tonight and runs until Saturday. For tickets, tel 0870 602 1130.
The Myths and Monsters exhibition, meanwhile, can be seen at the Centre for Life until October 28.
