The Spring Into Summer Continental Market arrives in Durham for four days of fabulous flavours from around the world on Friday, May 1.

The event will transform Durham Market Place with scents and smells more often experienced overseas.

Some of the international treats which will be available until Monday include Baklava and authentic Turkish Delight, Spanish saucisson, French cheese, and freshly made paella.

As well as shopping for food, visitors will be able to browse stalls selling handcrafted silver jewellery, hemp clothes and bags, leather bound books, garden furniture and more.

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, says: “The Continental Market is always hugely popular in Durham. As well as picking up something they might not usually find, we hope that, while in Durham, shoppers will also make the most of the many independent retailers, both in the Market Hall and around the City Centre.”

The market will be open from 10am to 5pm on May 1 and 2 and from 10am-4pm on May 3 and 4.
