New sushi restaurant is boxing clever in Newcastle City Centre

Grainger Street will be the place to go for sushi and noodle lovers as Nudo Sushi Box moves into Newcastle city centre

Nudo Sushi Box is to open a new outlet in the centre of Newcastle.

The sushi and noodle specialist will be moving into what was the Thorntons chocolate shop at the top end of Grainger Street near Grey’s Monument.

The latest Newcastle outlet follows the success of Nudo Noodle House which opened in the city centre in 2009. There is also a Nudo Sushi Box branch in Acorn Road, Jesmond, and another opened in April this year on Wearside at The Bridges shopping centre in Sunderland.

Plans are in the offing to make a move into Durham too.

Nudo Sushi’s aim is to make the food a regular health treat as opposed to an occasional luxury. They are keen to dispel the myth that sushi is only raw fish (which is sashimi and not the same).

Sushi actually refers to rice seasoned with sweet rice vinegar and there are hundreds of different kinds. Sushi may have ingredients that include shellfish, cooked fish, meat, vegetables and raw fish. However, the main part of sushi is the Japanese rice.
