North East Chilli Festival to turn up the heat for the third year running

Chilli producers from the North East and beyond will be congregating for the third year running to celebrate all that is chilli

Back for a third year is the North East Chilli Festival, on all this weekend (July 5 and 6) at the National Trust’s Seaton Delaval Hall in south east Northumberland.

The brainchild of Mark and Shelley Deakin of Hot Stiff Chilli Company fame, the event brings together both local and national chilli producers and associated products alongside other food and drink.

The 18th century hall designed by Sir John Vanbrugh will be the backdrop for a host of food traders serving up delicious and diverse chilli-based food from around the globe.

Among the names taking part are Spice Monkey, Grim Reaper Foods, Boulevard Creative Cuisine, Wiga Wagaa Chillies, Northumberland Cheese Company, Monsieur Crepe, Mr Vikki’s, Crazy Fred’s, Hot Headz and Earth and Fire.

There’s also a real ale bar courtesy of Wylam Brewery, Pimms and cocktails, live music, contortionists and the now infamous chilli eating competition.

Tickets cost £7 on the day and there’s a free shuttle bus in operation from Seaton Sluice.
