Chef Jerome Cogne has taken over running the kitchen at Linden Hall – the second time the Frenchman has worked at the golf and country club at Longhorsley in Northumberland.
The 43 year olds appointment as head chef is the latest step in a 25 year career that has seen Jerome work with the likes of Roland Durand at the 2 Michelin star Le Pre Catelan in Paris, the 3 star Maison Troisgros in Roanne, France, and also alongside Joel Antunes at the 1 star Les Saveurs in London.
Jerome’s previous association with Macdonald Linden Hall came to an end in 2011 when he left to take up the role of head chef at the acclaimed Bouchon Bistrot in Hexham.
He says of his return to Linden Hall: “As a boy in the Loire Valley, I was inspired by the care and skill with which my two grandmothers would bake and prepare tasty stews using home grown produce.
“So I am very excited to be returning to Macdonald Linden Hall and a hotel group that is equally passionate about the quality of its food offering. As head chef and working closely with a team that includes my sous chef ‘Rolly,’ I have a real opportunity to make my mark on great tasting menus.
“I aim to ensure our double AA rosette Dobson Restaurant and Linden Tree Pub become firm favourites and must visit dining destinations in the local area and further afield.”
