Traditional Christmas pudding isn’t to everyone’s taste, especially after a belt-widening festive dinner with all the trimmings.

But custom dictates it’s what we should eat on the big day. And like it or loathe it, it has to be said that Christmas dinner isn’t quite the same if it’s not rounded off with at least a thin slither of boozy, fruit-filled pudding.

But there is a compromise. How about a Christmas pudding chilled cheesecake as made by Alyson Archer of Gateshead-based Simply Cheesecake?

It’s a rich, creamy, brandy cheesecake with chunks of fruity Christmas pudding on a thick biscuit base.

Let’s just let that sink in for a moment.

Alyson also makes a baked Christmas cheesecake packed with dried fruits, cinnamon and brandy and decorated with creme fraiche and glace cherries.

The chilled cake is available to order for £25 and Alyson says will serve up to 12 people, or she can make six individual portions for £12. The baked version is £35 and will also serve 12.

Other festive favourites currently coming out of the Simply Cheesecake kitchen are Chocolate Orange, After Eight, white chocolate and raspberry and Ferrero Rocher. All are available as a 12 slice cake or as individual portions.

There are more than 60 different flavours of chilled, baked and gluten free cheesecakes to choose from.

They do need to be pre-ordered and delivery is available up to December 23, so you’ve still got time to buy.

To order email Alyson at: simplycheesecake@yahoo.co.uk, or get in touch via Facebook: www.facebook.com/simplycheesecake.co.uk or Twitter: @simply_chscake

The cheesecakes and bakes can be bought in advance and safely frozen for the big day.
