Saltburn Farmers’ Market is set to round the year off in style on December 13 with a bumper festive special.
It’s the final event of 2014 in what has been an incredible year for the popular monthly market.
Highlights have included being shortlisted as National Farmers’ Market of the Year, and welcoming thousands of people to the second Saltburn Food Festival in August.
Special guest chefs Sarah Muir, Richard Ingram and former Coronation Street star turned cheesemaker Sean Wilson, all described the festival as one of the best in the country, after the town’s Milton Street was transformed into a huge market featuring over 60 of the North East and North Yorkshire’s best independent food producers.
And now the market will bring an early taste of Christmas to the seaside town – with one lucky shopper set to win a bumper festive hamper made up of something from virtually every stall on the day itself.
Market Manager Lorna Jackson says: “It’s been another really busy and enjoyable year here again in Saltburn, and we’re looking forward to ending it on a high with our Christmas special.
“The Market has just powered ahead and got better and better again this year, and the Food Festival this summer really was an amazing day.”
Looking forward to the Christmas special, Lorna adds: “Christmas is pretty much our favourite time of the year.
“We’ll have a bumper selection of great local food to tickle everyone’s taste buds, and we’ve invited extra artists and crafters into the market to ensure there are plenty of Christmas gifts for everyone to choose a perfect present for someone special.
“Our Christmas market is always that little bit extra special for stallholders and shoppers alike, and we’re all looking forward to a really enjoyable day.”
Saltburn Farmers’ Market, featuring more than 35 stalls, will take place between 9am-3pm outside the town’s railway station near Sainsbury’s. The market will then take a winter break before returning for a new season on March 14, 2015.
