Dennis Dugan has directed Adam Sandler in eight films – and earned himself four non-Oscar ‘Golden Razzie’ awards as each year’s ‘worst director’.

That’s no mean achievement. But since the pair are not ready to quit yet, they’re now reunited for the ninth time with a sequel to Grown Ups (2010).

Lenny (Sandler) has moved back to his small town origins and being surrounded by familiar faces at the end of the school year means spirits are high.

Lighter than a feather in terms of plot, the film’s plus side is the sheer number of stars all gleefully mucking in.

As well as Sandler, there’s Chris Rock (Kurt McKenzie), Steve Buscemi (Wiley) and David Spade (Marcus Higgins), plus Salma Hayek (Roxanne), Maya Rudolph (Deanne McKenzie) and Maria Bello (Sally Lamonsoff).

It’s easy to be critical of films which have no aim other than to entertain, but if you’re half way to Sandler’s juvenile, rather sexist mentality you will find more comedy highlights than you’ll be expecting.
