DO NOT REUSE PIC: A scene from the movie Donkey Punch

(1hr 39mins) Starring: Nichola Burley, Jaime Winstone, Robert Boulter, Julian Morris, Sian Breckin, Tom Burke, Jay Taylor. Director: Olly Blackburn

IF you don’t know the meaning of a "donkey punch", you will by the blood-soaked conclusion of Olly Blackburn’s sex and drug-fuelled thriller.

An orgy aboard a yacht, where the kinky act takes place, leaves little to the imagination as the camera ogles his cast.

Once the punch is performed to the back of the neck of one woman, her death sparks a formulaic and increasingly brutal battle of the sexes. The confines of the yacht provide an effectively claustrophobic setting for the film as it sails into similarly choppy waters as Dead Calm.

Unfortunately, logic tumbles overboard as the film struggles to sustain the air of paranoia while killing off the cast.

Yorkshire lasses Kim (Jaime Winstone) and Lisa (Sian Breckin) are in Mallorca to cheer up pal Tammi (Nichola Burley) who has split with her boyfriend.

When a boat party-turned-romp ends in tragedy, the others object to the men’s plans to cover up the death.

The film doesn’t spend any time developing the characters before plunging them into a moral quagmire from which senseless slaughter is apparently the only means of escape.
