Top Gear Live is to roar into Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena next year during a short UK tour.
Presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will steer the popular BBC Two programme’s live spin-off to the Newcastle venue on February 20 and 21.
May said: “In the past we’ve taken Top Gear Live all over the world but this year we’re taking it to Newcastle, Liverpool, Belfast, Sheffield and London. That way we’ll remember how lucky we are to live in Britain.”
These will be the first UK dates for the live show since 2012, apart from a short sell-out run in Glasgow.
Top Gear fans can expect much of what the programme has become famous – or notorious – for.
“We’ll have super cars, stunts, explosions and The Stig,” said Clarkson.
“Come and see Top Gear but without the editing. What could possibly go wrong?”
The competitive element of the TV show will transfer to the 90-minute live show, with Hammond quipping: “It’s all very exciting, taking our show on a tour of the UK.
“I suggested to the other two that we travel around in a lovely old bus or something but they weren’t keen.”
During the past 10 years Top Gear Live has been seen by nearly two million fans in 22 countries including Australia, Hungary, Russia and South Africa.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday, November 14.
