Tyne Theatre in Newcastle to host a 30th anniversary celebration of Viz

An event with music, magic and musings is being held to mark 30 years since the national publication of the iconic Tyneside comic

VIZ creators Chris and Simon Donald will appear on stage together for the first time proper in around 20 years to mark the 30th anniversary of the national publication of the iconic toilet humour comic.

Geordie Legends: Them Off The Viz will be hosted by magician Chris Cross at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House’s Bistro in Newcastle in the summer.

The evening itself will also include live music from The Purest Green band, a cabaret show of magic from Chris Cross, a stand up comedy set from Simon Donald and an interview with his brother Chris before Simon returns to the stage for a Q&A session with the audience.

Fans will be expecting to find out how a cult comic made in a small Jesmond Bedroom become one of the most legendary publications to come out of the North East as well as what inspired the creation of Biffa Bacon, Roger Mellie & Sid the Sexist, why they called it Viz and what they think were the best ever Top Tips.

Promising a “Geordie Night OOT Not to Be Missed, Like!” exclusive limited edition merchandise and artwork, specifically created for this one off show will be available at the gig and there will also be a charity auction in aid of St. Oswald’s Hospice with original Viz goodies up for grabs.
