TO celebrate the re-opening of Housesteads Visitor Centre, the National Trust and partners English Heritage are offering one Culture Club member the chance to win a family day out at Housesteads Roman Fort.

Standing high on the most dramatic and scenic section of Hadrian’s Wall, Housesteads is undoubtedly the most iconic of all the Wall sites.

The views and Roman remains are spectacular.

Inside the museum the exhibition tells the story of the fort, featuring a stunning collection of artefacts and a CGI film which flies through time and reconstructs Housesteads before your very eyes.

The Visitor Centre at Housesteads, which is the welcome and orientation point for all visitors, underwent a £650,000 transformation during the winter.

Outside the improved centre, a large new 3D map detailing the scale of the fort and surrounding Whin Sill escarpment takes pride of place in the courtyard, and a glazed seating area provides a place to enjoy refreshments on a warm day.

Inside, a mezzanine level offers visitors the chance to enjoy stunning views and images from along the wall over a cup of coffee.

For your chance to win, simply answer this question:

What takes pride of place in the courtyard of the visitor centre?

For your chance to win, simply email your membership number, name, address, daytime telephone number and answer to cultureclub@ncjmedia.co.uk by no later than Wednesday, June 5.

Alternatively call 0191 201 6021 leaving your name, membership number and daytime phone number. Please enter ‘Housesteads’ in the subject of your email.
