MOST of us would struggle to perfect one art form, so hats off to Sonia Sabri for presenting a variety in her latest show.

Sonia is the UK’s leading proponent of presenting Kathak (traditional Indian storytelling through spoken word, music and dance) in new ways.

For Kathakbox she has branched out by layering “urban” kathak – mixing the graceful Indian style with hip hop rhythms – with music, poetry and beat boxing.

Different stories are told through spoken and unspoken languages using rhythm, movement, poetry and rap in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

Choreographed for seven performers, Kathakbox is an exuberant show being brought to Dance City in collaboration with Gem Arts.

Kathakbox, by Birmingham-based Sonia Sabri Company is at Dance City in Newcastle at 8pm-9.15pm on Saturday. Visit www.dancecity.co.uk
