Tickets for the ever-popular Enchanted Parks event in Saltwell Park will go on sale on November 3.
The popular after-dark arts adventure is once again promising to breathe myth and magic into Gateshead’s beautiful Victorian park from December 10-14, and it’s likely that tickets will be as hot as a roasted chestnut.
This year’s event will tells the story of Estella, a young girl who lived inside Saltwell Towers.
Fascinated by the stars that shone brightly above her, the turrets of Saltwell Towers are to become her very own observatory.
Will her her dreams of travelling into space become a reality? Her quest to be among the stars promises to bring some out of this world surprises to Saltwell Park.
Artists from across the country have brought Estella’s story to life through magical installations, projections and soundscapes that will transform the sprawling park for five festive days.
Carol Bell, head of culture and major events at Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, which organises the event, said: “Working very closely with Gateshead Council and Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, Enchanted Parks creative producer Katy Fuller of Pinwheel has developed a unique story around this year’s event that brings to life some of the characters and tales associated with this special part of Gateshead.
“We’ve been inspired by the stars and the night sky around us. It’s going to be another really magical experience for visitors to Enchanted Parks this year.”
Funded by Arts Council England and Gateshead Council, Enchanted Parks, which . It is developed and commissioned by NewcastleGateshead Initiative and Gateshead Council as part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative’s festivals and events programme.
Gateshead Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure, Councillor Peter Mole said, "Enchanted Parks is a special event in Gateshead and it is hugely popular. It brings great artistic ideas and installations together with our communities and the result is something that is unique to Gateshead.
"This event is possible through our partnership with NewcastleGateshead Initiative and financial support from Arts Council England. It attracts visitors to Gateshead from across the region and has been a fantastic success year on year. It’s the perfect introduction to Christmas festivities."
* Enchanted Parks takes place from Wednesday December 10 to Sunday December 14. Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £1 for under 18s. Children aged three and under go free.
Tickets go on sale at 12 noon on Monday, November 3 at www.enchantedparks.com . A limited number of tickets will also be available to buy in person from Newcastle Gateshead Visitor Information Centre and Saltwell Towers. Telephone bookings are not possible. Tickets for Disabled Adults who need a carer companion to attend the event must also be booked at the adult rate of £7 (the carer ticket will be free of charge, but you must email firstname.lastname@example.org to book).
