Following hundreds of public nominations and hours of deliberations when it came to longlisting, shortlisting and selecting the finalists in each of the categories, we are now delighted to reveal the 39 finalists for The Journal Culture Awards 2014.

Once again, it wasn’t an easy task to whittle the array of talent and melting pot of events and performances down to just three finalists in each category. But we managed it in the end.

In addition to the awards below, trophies, which have been will also be bestowed on the night for the Best Overall Event and a Special Contribution to North East arts and culture. We will also be giving out the inaugural award in a new category, to be revealed on the night. Exciting stuff, eh?

But back to what we can tell you. Here are the lovely finalists for The Journal Culture Awards 2014.
