A series of specialist meetings for tenant farmers is being organised by the NFU in the North East this winter.

Two of the meetings are being held in the region and are designed to give tenants the chance to discuss any specific tenancy issues they are facing.

Recent queries raised with the NFU concern issues on rent reviews, the arbitration process and the implementation of Environmental Stewardship in a tenancy situation.

Regional tenants’ adviser Lucinda Douglas said: “Whereas our recent national tenants conference gave members a chance to feed issues and concerns directly into national policymakers, our local meetings offer the perfect forum to talk through individual problems and queries.

"We will have a number of experts on hand who can offer specific advice tailored to members’ individual circumstances.

“I hope tenants across the North East region will make full use of the opportunity.

“If anyone has any specific issues they would like us to deal with, a call to regional office beforehand will help us make sure we have the right information to hand.”

Dates of the meetings in the North East are:

Monday, November 25 - North Riding & Durham meeting, Enterprise House, Barnard Castle DL12 8XT, 7.30pm.

Monday, December 2 - Northumberland meeting, Hexham & Northern Marts, Tyne Green, Hexham, NE46 3SG, 12 noon. Lunch provided. Also in Alnwick, at The Plough, 24 Bondgate Without, NE66 1PN, 7.30pm.

The meetings are open to all NFU members and anyone wanting to attend is asked to ring NFU Regional Office on 01904 451550 to book a place.
