An entrepreneur who set up her own event management company is on cue to treble turnover over the next year.
Sarah Porteous, 29, from Teesside, set up Sporteous UK around a year ago. The business, which has around 40 clients, is already attracting big names in sport, such as former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe and former football manager Bryan Robson to attend events here in the region.
Porteous, who has two staff, is organising a sporting event which will include three 1966 World Cup legends, Sir Geoff Hurst, Nobby Styles and Gordon Banks.
Porteous said: “I moved away from my parents when I was just 14 and I’ve always worked more than one job to get by. I am a hard worker and I never like to fail. Sporteous has been the best thing that has ever happened to me.
“I’ve really homed in on our love for sport and it’s certainly worked. My sport is snooker – I’ve been playing for years and I enter the odd tournament.
“I work with snooker players as well as football players, rugby players and athletes.”
