A Tynemouth-based baby skincare company has won a national award.

Bare Bodycare received a Green Parent Natural Beauty award for its baby oil, beating off hundreds of other products in the category.

The company is owned and managed by Cath Mather, a former healthcare professional who worked in the field for over 10 years, advocating an holistic approach to self-care.

The business was born when, on becoming a mother, she found herself disappointed by the limited range of natural baby skincare products available and decided to do something about it.

After a period of training and study, she set about developing a small range of handmade baby cosmetics, creating her products individually in her Tynemouth studio.

Only natural ingredients and package products are used, with everything being both SLS and Paraben-free.

The products are likewise rich in conditioning oils, butters and beeswax, and have undergone a safety assessment to be approved for use with babies and children.

Cath said: “The award is quite an accolade as there were hundreds of products entered.

“The fact that it was reviewed by parents and children is also very relevant – it’s just further acknowledgement that the products are of a really high quality.”

The business also stocks a range for adults.
