More than 93% of first class mail arrives the next working day, according the Royal Mail.

The firm delivered 93.4% of first class mail the next working day against a target of 93%, while 99% of second class post was delivered within three working days, against a target of 98.5%.

The figures, from the Royal Mail’s Quality of Service report, covers performances from April to June 2013.

Mark Higson, of the Royal Mail, described it as an ‘excellent’ result, adding: “Our postmen and women are delivering to one of the most challenging next-day performance targets in Europe while we are undertaking one of the UK’s biggest transformation projects.”
