Farmers are invited to attend a European election hustings event being held by the NFU in the North to give them the chance to quiz prospective Euro-MPs about their policies on agriculture and horticulture.

The event is being held in Newcastle on Thursday evening, ahead of the election on May 22. North East regional director Richard Pearson said: “Our hustings events are a great opportunity for farmers to come and meet the various candidates and quiz them about their position on headline issues likely to be on the agenda in Brussels in the coming months. These are likely to include animal and plant health legislation, a review of organic regulations, transport issues, GM legislation and new EU trade agreements.”

The event is on Thursday at 7pm in the Clement Stephenson Lecture Theatre, Newcastle University.
