Drive, dynamism and leadership - these are just some of the qualities the judges will be looking for in the 30 year of the North East Business Executive of the Year Awards.
The longevity of this event is testament that the North East Business Executive of the Year continues to retain its status as one of the most prestigious events in the region. The awards are being organised by The Journal in Newcastle and its sister paper, the Evening Gazette in Middlesbrough, and are in association with Brewin Dolphin.
The range of categories at this high-brow awards ceremony have been carefully considered to allow us to fully reflect the activities of Business Executives from across the region whilst also rewarding & encouraging rising stars. The categories are:
Durham & Wearside Business Executive of the Year
Teesside Business Executive of the Year
Tyneside & Northumberland Business Executive of the Year
North East Business Executive of the Year
Lifetime Achievement Award
Young Business Person of the Year
As the titles of the award categories suggest, the first three awards will be given to a worthy contender in that sub-region, with the overall North East Business Executive of the Year honour being bestowed onto one of these sub-regional winners.
In addition to the top award, there are trophies for the North East Young Business Person of the Year, who must be aged 30 or under, the Non-Executive Director of the Year, which aims to recognise the vital role non-executives can play in the development of companies of all sizes, whether private, public or charitable organisations, and a Lifetime Achievement award, presented to an individual who has contributed significantly to the business community in their working lifetime.
The business editors of The Journal and Evening Gazette use their vast business knowledge to put forward their nominations and we invite readers to also send in their submissions. What we’re looking for are not just the obvious successes – the balance sheet, the profit and loss account etc - we’re looking for the right sort of personality and leadership with an obvious connection between the candidate and the success of the business.
A judging panel, made up of key professionals from the North East business community and representatives from the sponsoring organisations, will pull together a shortlist and decide the winners for each category.
The awards will be presented at a prestigious awards dinner taking place at the Newcastle Marriott Hotel, Gosforth Park on Thursday 14 November 2013. The evening will include a drinks reception, high-profile guest speaker, three-course meal, high-spec audiovisuals and the awards presentations. Year-on-year this event attracts the leading business executives from the local business community making this event a valuable networking opportunity.
The awards are in association with Brewin Dolphin, and our categories are sponsored by Bond Dickinson, Newcastle University Business School, Teesside University Business School and a Consortium of Local Businesses.
