Leading lights in the field of innovation are calling upon forward thinking firms from the North East business community to make the most of the opportunity to be a part of a prestigious awards event which recognises the cream of business excellence, innovation and outstanding success.
Judges of the Innovation Award category for the Durham and Wearside heat of the North East Business Awards 2014, which is being sponsored by the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC), are encouraging those businesses that have launched innovative new products and services during the past year to enter the annual awards before the December 27 deadline.
Paul McEldon, chief executive of the BIC, one of the region’s leading business support organisations, Professor Roy Sandbach, David Goldman, visiting professor of Innovation & Enterprise at Newcastle University Business School and Andy Atkins, director of the Centre for Digital Business, a digital centre of excellence, make up the esteemed panel of judges who will have the difficult task of shortlisting the most innovative businesses from the sub-region.
Professor Sandbach, who leads the North East LEP’s strategic innovation work, believes the awards present a valuable profile opportunity for dynamic businesses in the region to showcase their innovative capability.
He said: “I am heartened by the way in which North East businesses are embracing innovation as the route to business growth and market impact.
“Business leaders are clear that innovation is critical in a fast-changing and highly competitive world.
“They are delivering exciting innovations in product and service development, in design, in business models, in marketing strategy, in business process and efficiency and in cost reduction. We’d like to hear of this great work.”
