John Swan Ltd sold 88 clean cattle, 36 OTM cattle, 2105 old season SQQ hoggs and 620 ewes

Bullocks (33) averaged 209.8p per kg and sold to 233p (-8.9p on week). Heifers (54) averaged 212.9p per kg and sold to 253p (-0.5p on week). One young bull sold to 164p (n/c on the week) while 36 beef type OTM cattle averaged 155.7p per kg and sold to 195p (+24.4 on the week)

Old season SQQ hoggs averaged 215.3p per kg (-3.2p on the week) and sold to £120.

Ewes averaged £72.37, and sold to £140

Heavy ewes £84.14, light ewes £65.40.

Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart had forward 21 prime cattle, 32 OTM cattle, 10 young bulls, 3,778 cast ewes & rams and 5,943 prime hoggs.

Prime heifers to 221.5p for Limousin from Houghton House. Young bulls to 209.5p for Limousin from Toppin Castle. OTMs to 154.5p for Limousin from The Throp.

Prime hoggs to £134 per head for Texels from Wood Farm and to 282p per kilo for Texel from Morningside and Newton Cottage. Heavy ewes to £150 for Texels from Seaview. Light ewes to £80 for Cheviots from Chapel Farm. Rams to £164 for Suffolks from The Land.

Heifers: light to 184.5p (181.0p); medium to 221.5p (198.3p); heavy to 202.5p (191.5p)

Young bulls: 209.5p (165.2p)

Hoggs: light to 248.0p (215.2p); standard to 282.0p (222.0p); medium to 280.0p (218.6p); heavy to 257.0p (209.2p)

Ewes: light to £80.00 (£54.18); heavy to £150.00 (£91.26)

Cast Rams: £164.00 (£92.95).

Hopes Auction Co held their weekly sale of Primestock when there was an entry of 40 Cattle, 13 Bulls, 911 Prime Hoggs and 103 Ewes.

The top price of 248.5p per kg was paid for a Limousin Heifer shown by JG & M Little, Greenhill Farm and was purchased by Top Deal Meats, Denton Holme, Carlisle. The same Heifer also achieved the top price per head of £1438.82

Steers sold to a top price of 202.5p for a Limousin which was shown by J W Rae, Greenah Villa also achieving the top gross of £1419.53.

Bulls sold to 213.5p and was paid to Messrs G Wilkinson, Arkleby House for a Limousin The top price per head was £1315.20 paid for another Limousin Bull also shown by Messrs G Wilkinson, Arkleby House.
