As founder of @connectfriday , the North East’s green business networking event, it’s little wonder that Nicola Jayne Little of Daisy Green Media and Events describes herself as an online connector.

It’s her natural ability of putting people in touch with the correct people that has won her a nomination in The Journal’s search for the North East’s Most Influential on Social Media.

Founder and director of Daisy Green Media and Events and the women’s magazine, Daisy Green, Nicola has her roots planted firmly in the North East’s environmental sector.

She has a number of Twitter accounts but has been nominated for her social media handle @NicolaisDaisy which she says just reflects her personality.

Her tweets, which average one an hour, include a mixture of promoting her businesses, photographs of what she has been doing as well as general observations.

She said she enjoys using Twitter as a basis for feedback, whether this is to find out what people’s favourite crisp sandwich is or to discover the best way to make paper for a colleague.

It is this lighthearted approach to connecting people which makes Nicola’s 14,000 and counting tweets a whirlwind to read.

Among her recommendations to follow online include Gareth Kane, founder of Terra Infirma (@garethkane), founder of @northeasthour Helen Armstrong and Albert Harrison of Newlife Paints (NLifepaints).

Nicola Jayne’s top five recommendations are:

Helen Armstrong - @northeasthour

Gareth Kane - @garethkane

Albert Harrison - @NLifepaints

The Mussel Club - @TheMusselClub

Daisy Green Magazine - @daisygreenmag
