Name: Jane Hogan
Company: Chief Executive, TASTECLUB
As a small business owner, Jane Hogan, chief executive of TASTECLUB, knows how important it is to have a good social media profile and it is her prolific tweeting which has seen her nominated in The Journal’s search for the North East’s most Influential in Social Media.
TASTECLUB promotes locally produced food and drink and relies on relationships with local producers to make the business work. Jane says using social media, and in particular, Twitter, has been the perfect way to find new products and keep in touch with suppliers.
Jane uses her Twitter feed to let followers know about new products available from TASTE or food related events happening in the North East. But she said it is the speed of Twitter which enables her to put a call out for a specific product for an event or a film crew which makes the medium so useful.
She said: “Social media is all about reach for us. We are quite a small organisation and we cover a large amount of different things. We need to be able to get in contact with people really quickly. For example if we are asked to find a locally produced water we can get on Twitter and find producers in the North East and Cumbria.”
Jane has just short of 1,000 followers on Twitter who she provides with retweets on food events and competitions happening in the region and provides updates from the food-related activities she has been involved in.
