Government 'must work with landowners' for BTB strategy success

The CLA said it was pleased the Government is again showing its commitment to eradicating BTB using a comprehensive package of measures

The Government’s strategy to make Britain TB-free has been welcomed by the Country Landowners’ Association, but the CLA says it is now vital that Defra works closely with landowners.

The CLA said it was pleased the Government is again showing its commitment to eradicating BTB using a comprehensive package of measures.

CLA president Harry Cotterell said: “We are pleased that the Government has now released this long overdue strategy which seeks to eradicate this terrible disease from livestock and wildlife in England. It is vital that the Government engages with landowners and farmers who are reliant on a healthy livestock sector.”

The CLA said it will engage with its members to gauge their views on the proposals outlined under the strategy.
