Prize heifer She’s a Diamond, from John Smith Jackson, of Hightown, Melkridge, Northumberland, is ending the year on a high.

The April 2013-born cross heifer continued her winning ways bytaking the overall champion calfat the East of England Smithfield Festival, Peterborough. Previously she was baby beef champion at Borderway Agri Expo and a winner at the English Winter Fair.

Born by the British Blue Heatherview Cooper, she weighed in at 362kgand was trained for the showring over the summer by Luke and Beth Wilkinson of Leyburn, North Yorks.

She’s Diamond will be sold at one of the spring sales.

John said: “I’m really pleased with this. She’s a Diamond has a lovely temperament and it’s a pleasure to show with her.

“If you had to create a top-class heifer, it wouldn’t look better than she does.”

The first person to have his name inscribed on it twice, he took home the Duke of Bedford perpetual trophy for the supreme champion sucked calf at the Royal Smithfield Club’s show.
